What We Offer

Home Visitation Trainings

AHVNA Family Violence Protocol Training

This training is essential for Home Visitors, FRN Team Members, and Supervisors in programs or agencies implementing the AHVNA Family Violence Protocol. The Protocol outlines how to screen for family violence and provides appropriate responses to both positive and negative screenings.

AHVNA Home Visitation Basics

Provides participants with insights into how cultural values and assumptions shape interactions among individuals and groups. Attendees will have the opportunity to apply tools aimed at fostering the creation of culturally safe spaces. The objective is to cultivate a professional practice that facilitates open, non-judgmental conversations and interactions with others.

Calgary Healthy Families Screening Tool

In response to an identified need for a reliable postpartum screening tool for Home Visitors, the Calgary Healthy Families Collaborative (CHFC) created the Calgary Healthy Families Screening Tool (CHFST). This tool was developed over 18 months in the context of an organizational research framework. The CHFST has been extensively tested using test-retest and inter-rater-reliability methods. Having demonstrated high sensitivity, the Calgary Healthy Families Collaborative and other organizations have successfully used this screening tool since 2007.

Developmental Parenting

Developmental Parenting: A Guide for Early Childhood Practitioners explores the kind of parenting that values a child's development, supports a child's development, and changes along with a child's development. It is the kind of parenting that many program serving infants and young children, especially home-based programs, hope to increase through home visits or other parenting support services. Participants will explore the book to learn how parents can support their child’s development, how a practitioner can facilitate positive parent-child interactions, and why this is important. We invite you to come to the discussion with a curious and reflective mind, looking to learn and share.

Kimochis for All

This training introduces you to the Kimochis® tools that invite families and children to explore and learn ways to work through their big, and hard to have feelings. This training will be valuable for front line workers in programs focused on early childhood (0-6 years of age), in home, community, and school environments, as they support children, and build caregiver engagement.

Touchpoints: The How of Child and Family Engagement

This training is an intensive program that introduces the Touchpoints Approach, which is an evidence-based approach to building strong family-child relationships from before birth through age 5.  Participants who implement Touchpoints in their practice, partner with families to lay the vital foundation for children's early learning and healthy development.  Touchpoints provides a practical, preventative approach that supports professionals in forming strength-based partnerships with families.
